The photos were taking using a pair of zoomable colour cameras. Those cameras sit on a mast to make the equivalent to eye level for a six-and-a-half foot tall person.
I’m taking it all in. This is the first 360º view of my home using Mastcam-Z. This dual, high-definition camera system sits atop my mast and has zoom capability. This location is called Jezero Crater, which is a dry lake bed that’s almost four billions years old.
If you look in the distance you can see the cliff face of an old river delta.
The Perseverance Rover will spend two years roaming the crater searching for signs of ancient life.
