New COVID-19 self-isolation rules in Ottawa

First Published:

Strict new self-isolation rules are now in place in Ottawa to limit the spread of COVID-19.

The city’s chief medical officer of health released the new guidelines Tuesday and put them into effect immediately.

The new public health order requires anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 or has symptoms of the virus to self-isolate immediately.

Those rules also apply to anyone who is a close contact of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 or has been tested for the virus and is awaiting their results.

Failure to follow the public health order can result in daily fines of up to $5,000.

Ottawa is one of the province’s COVID-19 hot spots.

On Tuesday Ottawa Public Heath reported 93 new cases of COVID-19. It has 539 active cases.
