Near-miss crash caught on camera as driver tries to pass Brant County snowplow

First Published:

County of Brant is reminding drivers to be patient after a driver nearly collided head-on with a garbage truck when trying to pass a snowplow.

The incident was captured on the dash camera of a County snowplow.

In the video, a vehicle can be seen attempting to pass the plow in the left lane where a large waste collection truck is travelling in the opposite direction.

The vehicle and truck narrowly miss colliding head-on.

The County of Brant posted the video on their Facebook page with a reminder to drivers to be patient with plows.

“In an instant, everything can change,” reads the post. “Everyone was safe, this time, due to the quick actions of the waste collection Operator.”

The video has been widely shared online and sparked outrage from residents who called the driver’s actions “reckless.”

The Ministry of Transportation says drivers should never pass a snowplow and should always remain a safe distance back from maintenance equipment. The ministry says attempting to pass a snowplow could result in a severe or even fatal collision.
