The price of gas is on the rise, and Premier Kathleen Wynne’s cap-and-trade program for carbon emissions could bring the price even higher.

Petroleum analysts say the price of gas will continue to rise over the next week after going up 2 cents overnight.

In the province’s budget tabled yesterday, the Liberals will introduce a cap and trade program to try and curb emissions. That could result in the price of gas going up another 2 to 3.5 cents.

The opposition is calling the plan a Liberal move to take more money from Ontarians.
