Murder Suspect Dies in Jail

A 33 year old Hamilton man being held in jail for first degree murder has died.

Robert Howard Clause died at the Market Street jail on March 4th.

The coroner’s office is investigating the death.

No further details were made available to the media.

Clause was being held in connection with the death of 22 year old Devon Anthony Gayle of Hamilton, whose body was found in the Grand River on Dec. 13th of last year.

Clause and co-accused Tara Baker, 31, also of Hamilton, were charged with first-degree murder in Gayle’s death.
