An 18-year-old man is in critical condition following a collision in Hamilton Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Main St. East and Province St. South around 2:20 p.m.

Police say the teenager was riding a Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Main St. East when he collided with a southbound-traveling commercial van being driven by a 36-year-old Barrie man.

The motorcyclist was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

“Due to the severity of these injuries, the Hamilton Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) was called out and has taken carriage of the investigation,” said Hamilton police in a news release. “Investigators have yet to rule out any factor in this ongoing investigation.”

Main St. East was closed between Graham Ave. and Park Row South but has since reopened.

Any potential witnesses who have yet to speak with police are being asked to contact investigators at 905-546-4755 or 905-546-4753.
