Mother and daughter drown in pool in Blue Mountain

First Published:

A mother and daughter from Markham are dead following an apparent drowning at a resort swimming pool in Blue Mountain.

OPP say officers were called to the Mountain Springs resort just west of Collingwood Tuesday evening around 7:30 pm.

34 year old Tiffany Gong, her husband and their five year old daughter, Chloe were on vacation at the Mountain Springs Resort. The father had left the pool for about 10 minutes and when he came back the two were in medical distress.

Police say Tiffany and Chloe were rushed to a local hospital but were later pronounced dead.

A staff member at the resort says the pool where the incident happened is unsupervised and there were multiple signs indicating there are no lifeguards at the pool.

An investigation is in its early stages and more information is expected to be released later today.
