A new research chair at McMaster University hopes to improve health care for seniors.
Assistant professor at McMaster’s school of medicine, Andrew Costa, says his research is centered around helping them avoid unnecessary trips to the hospital.
“I’ve developed a method to predict emergency use and community and I’m working with community care partners here locally, and elsewhere to involve better methods to limit emergency use, and of course evaluate this method.”
The research is partially sponsored by the Schlegel family of Kitchener who donated $1 million. McMaster plans to match that donation, which will be spent over 10 years.
