Injection pain – just look away

If you don’t like getting a shot, not looking will help.

German researchers set up an experiment where participants received minor electric shocks to their hand while watching video of either a needle or a Q-tip touching someone else’s hand.

Those who saw the needle video reported significantly more pain, suggesting that looking away from a shot may actually make it less painful!
