Exploring different rural experiences in Chatham Kent

Emily Vukovic visited beautiful Chatham Kent to explore different rural experiences.
Her first stop was the Josiah Henson Museum of African-Canadian History, which ” recognizes the accomplishments of Josiah Henson through interpretive videos, interactive exhibits, numerous artifacts and tours that reflect the Black experience in Canada.”
Her next stop was TJ Stables to learn about spirit horses and Awaken Your Spirit, which is a 3-hour Immersive Spirit Horse Encounter that some people have called “life changing”. TJ Stables also offer programs, such as trail riding adventures, horse therapy, accessible riding for all and family farm experiences.
Her final stop was the Buxton National Historic Site & Museum. The schoolhouse was built in 1861 and was fully integrated since day one, which made it very popular. Now, you can take self-guided or guided tours of the site and learn about “a Black Canadian museum proud of its heritage and what it can teach.”
