The new Canadian show ‘Pink Is In‘ was filmed right here in Hamilton! Actor Patrick McKenna joined us today to talk more about the hilarious comedy.

Being from Hamilton, McKenna says he makes a point of trying to film in the city. Pink Is In was filmed in Hamilton and is a comedy series about the barely functioning Chatsworth Hamilton Women’s Prison. The institution is located in the city, which forms the backdrop of the series.

The show follows the antics of the diverse group of prisoners and the totally inept administration who run the privately-owned facility.

McKenna’s character is Colonel Kwoka who is a Russian who has come to Hamilton to investigate how prison’s work in Canada.

His role is a guest star position, but McKenna says he would love if the character became permanent on the show.

“I would love if it did, I have no idea what they have planned in the long run,” said McKenna. “I has such fun doing it, I hope they can find the justification to bring me back.”

Pink Is In is nominated for Best Ensemble at the Actor Awards coming up next month.

“That’s fantastic because that is a really hard category to get in, there’s so many fabulous group shows out there that CBC is doing and ATPN, there’s a lot of great shows to compete with,” said McKenna. “It’s so great to be noticed and recognized, it’s a real honour and I wish them well.”
