More drug allegations for Fords

First Published:

A day after Toronto Mayor Rob Ford addressed the allegations of him smoking crack cocaine, one of his most outspoken supporters is denying his own allegations of drug involvement.

The mayor’s brother, Doug, is defending himself against claims made in a Globe and Mail article on Saturday that he sold hashish in the 1980’s in high school.

The city councillor says the claims are false and that he’s consulting his lawyers about the possibility of legal action against the newspaper.

The article quotes sources it describes as drug dealers and users saying Doug Ford’s alleged drug dealing took place before he ran for elected office.

The Globe and Mail says it came across the information while putting together a larger story on the Ford family, but with the large interest in Rob Ford’s alleged drug use it felt it was in the public interest to publish the story.

The paper could not find any criminal charge for illegal drug possession or trafficking against Doug Ford, and he maintains the claims are “an absolute lie.”
