In partnership with Hamilton Food Share, the new food bank is located on Greenhill avenue near mount Albion.
Hamilton city Councillor Chad Collins was behind the launch after a group of people from the Davis Creek area approached him about the need for an emergency food centre there.
Collins says they are launching a second phase that will include a community kitchen, public health, and immigration services.
