Millions for Mac researchers

The Federal Science Minister was in Hamilton today and she brought the government’s cheque book. Kristy Duncan announced hundreds of millions of dollars for Canadian scientists. The new money will help more than a hundred researchers at McMaster University. Duncan announced that more than $465 million will be spent on fundamental research across the country.

“Ours is a government that believes in science, we respect our scientists and we’re trying to return science to it’s rightful place in government today is a really good day for science.”

A total of $15.7 million will be given to over 100 McMaster researchers, spread over the university’s six faculties. The research council, also granted 10 Mac scientists an additional $120,000 each over three years.
