Canadian icon and famed author Margaret Atwood will be coming to Hamilton in April for one of the city’s most popular literary events.
Atwood will take part in gritLIT’s opening night at the Playhouse Theatre.
The announcement was made during Morning Live early Monday.
Atwood created the world of Gilead – featured in the popular book “The Handmaid’s Tale” and the television series of the same name.
Atwood’s sequel to “The Handmaid’s Tale”, “The Testaments”, marked the author’s seventeenth novel in a writing career that encompasses more than sixty published works of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, graphic novels, and children’s books.
She will be reading from “The Testaments” on April 16 and sit down with fellow writer Merilyn Simonds for an intimate conversation about inspiration, perseverance, the future of the planet.
gritLIT is a four-day celebration of Canadian authors. Since its inception in 2004, the annual festival has become known for being a place for readers to get “up close and personal” with their favourite authors and to discover new voices.
