(Updated) A man is in hospital undergoing assessment, after he was arrested trying to illegally board a plane at Pearson Airport last night. A YouTube video (below) shows the man being tasered after he refused to drop the briefcase he was carrying.

He dropped to the ground moments after an officer zapped him with the stun gun. It happened after the man tried to force his way through security and get on a Turkish Airlines flight to Istanbul.

Constable Thomas Ruttan of Peel Regional Police told CHCH News that proper procedures were followed. “I believe it’s a discretionary thing. There isn’t a line that you have to cross but if you’re being aggressive with officers and you’re not answering questions, that’s the threshold. I think that he crossed that threshold.”

Neither the man nor the officers were hurt. It’s not known what was in the briefcase.
