Man shot in Mississauga standoff

A standoff with police in Mississauga ended with a man being shot by officers – but he’s expected to be okay.

Police were called to a disturbance at an apartment building near lakeshore road east and elmwood avenue just after one this afternoon. People at the scene believe the man was armed with a knife. The 50 year old was shot in the arm and taken to hospital.

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in to look into what happened. The SIU is called in in all cases of serious injury and death involving police.
