Man in life-threatening condition after being struck by taxi in Hamilton

A 38-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in west Hamilton.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Main St. near Rifle Range Rd.

Police say the man was trying to cross the street when he was struck by a taxi travelling eastbound.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with critical injuries and is in life-threatening condition.

Police say the taxi driver remained on scene.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation.

No charges have been laid at this time.

Main St. was closed between Rifle Range Rd. and Binkley Rd. for several hours but has since reopened.

Detectives are asking any possible witnesses to contact Hamilton police.
