Man in hospital following assault in downtown Hamilton

A man in his thirties was taken to hospital after being assaulted in downtown Hamilton Tuesday night.

Police were called to a disturbance near Bay St. South and Hunter St. West around 11:30 p.m.

Officers found a man suffering non-life threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital for medical treatment.

“The investigation is the early stages and the Central Criminal Investigations Branch will be handling the matter,” said Hamilton police in a news release.

The Central Criminal Investigations Branch has taken over the investigation. No arrests have been made and police have not released a suspect description at this time.

Investigators are asking residents in the area to check their security cameras for suspicious activity.
