Man grabs woman, attempts to force her into vehicle: Niagara police

First Published:

Niagara police are investigating after a stranger grabbed a woman by the arm and told her to get into his car.

It happened just before 4 p.m. on June 27 in the area of Murray St. and Stanley Ave. in Niagara Falls.

Police say a woman in her 20s was walking alone on the sidewalk when she was approached by a man in a newer model silver Buick. The man got out of his car, grabbed the woman by the arm, and told her to get into his vehicle.

The victim managed to break free and run across the street.

Police describe the man as black, six feet tall, 180 lbs, between 30 and 40 years of age, with short black hair. He was wearing blue jeans, a light coloured t-shirt, and a gold chain around his neck.

The suspect vehicle had a Quebec licence plate and black leather interior.

Detectives from the Human Trafficking Unit are also trying to identify the driver of a black BMW who may have witnessed the incident. Police say the driver may have exchanged words with the suspect and honked.

Investigators are asking any residents or business owners in the area with security cameras or doorbell cameras to check their footage for suspicious activity between 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. on June 27.

Anyone with information that could help police is asked to call 905-688-4111, ext. 1029457.
