Man dies after his SUV was hit with a flying tire

***UPDATE***

The OPP have laid charges after 69 year old Paul Philip Koenderman from Burlington was killed in an accident on Highway 400, north of King Rd.

The accident occurred back in January when a transport truck was travelling Southbound on Hwy 400 lost a set of dual wheels. One of the wheels entered the Northbound lanes and struck a vehicle.

The driver, Koenderman, was taken to hospital where he later died.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the truck, 30 year old, Burno Bergeron from St. Rouyn-Noranda from Quebec is now charged with Criminal Negligence Causing Death. He is scheduled to appear in court in June.

The company that owned the commercial vehicle, Transport Leo Labelle Inc from Bearn, Quebec is charged with Wheel Separation – Commercial Motor Vehicle. The company is to appear in court in July.
