Man charged with first-degree murder of 25-year-old missing man: OPP

Ontario Provincial Police has charged a 34-year-old man in the death of a Meaford man who was reported missing earlier this month.

Matthew McQuarrie has been arrested and charged with the first-degree murder of 25-year-old Emerson Sprung.

Sprung was last seen leaving his family’s home on Trowbridge St. West on his BMX bicycle around 9 p.m. on May 2.

Police say human remains were located just four days later and were identified as that of the missing man.

McQuarrie is currently being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on May 14.
