Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested a 29-year-old man following a violent attempted robbery at a gas station.
It happened around 5:45 a.m. on May 16 at a gas bar on Highway 6 in Northern Bruce Peninsula.
Police say a man assaulted an employee who was opening up the store for the day. The man then tried to get inside business before fleeing the scene.
A short time later, officers received a call about a break and enter in progress at a home in the area.
“A person, matching the suspect’s description from the robbery, was arrested by officers at the scene of the break and enter,” said OPP in a news release.
Peter Mears, of Northern Bruce Peninsula, has been charged with robbery with violence, break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, and operation of motor vehicle while impaired.
