Man arrested in donation bin theft at Brantford Dairy Queen

First Published:

The man wanted for stealing a donation bin from a Brantford Dairy Queen has been arrested, but the money is long gone.

Brantford Police say a 28-year-old man has been charged with theft under $5,000, break and enter and breach of probation.

Police say they were able to identify him through video surveillance, taken from the store on 108 Colborne St.

The bin was recovered but it was badly damaged.

The money inside, $1,000 for McMaster Children’s Hospital, was not.

Store owner Ken Breau says he’s launching a new fundraiser to make up for the stolen cash.

He has a special connection to the hospital.

His daughter was born with a rare genetic condition and was treated at McMaster most of her life.

She passed away last year.

You can donate in store and also online.

Breau says he will match every dollar donated up to $10,000.
