Man arrested after stealing $24, 000 worth of laptops from Oakville office buildings

First Published:

Halton police have arrested 32 year old Kenneth Levy of Mississauga after they received ten reports dating back to April of someone entering office buildings, undetected, and carrying out several laptops.

The thefts were only reported to police the following business day when workers realized their laptops were missing.

Video surveillance helped police to identify the thief, who was tracked down to a hotel in Mississauga. He was arrested on Wed. July 3 after being found with laptops stolen from the night before. Levy was then taken to the Oakville police station where he was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Investigators are trying to identify where Levy was unloading the stolen laptops in order to be able to return them to their rightful owners.

Levy is facing break and enter, theft, and failing to comply with probation charges.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact D/Cst. Matt Duncan of the 2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747 ext. 2259.

Tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or through the web at www.haltoncrimestoppers.ca.
