Man arrested after argument leads to stabbing in St. Catharines

A 50-year-old man has been arrested after an argument turned violent in St. Catharines.

Officers were called to the area of Geneva St. and Church St. around 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

Investigators learned a 33-year-old man and a 50-year-old man were involved in an argument.

Police say the argument escalated into a physical confrontation and the 50-year-old allegedly slashed the other man and then stabbed him.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Michael Calder, of St. Catharines, has been charged with aggravated assault.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
