First Published:

A man and woman have been charged for leaving a baby in a vehicle in Peel Region.

Police received a call about a child, under the age of one, alone in a vehicle in Mississauga. They say the child was in distress.

The baby was removed from the overheated vehicle and was taken to hospital. They are expected to make a full recovery.

A 28-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested and charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life and abandoning a child.

Police say they are working with community support services to ensure the child’s well-being.

They are reminding people of the dangers of leaving children unattended in a vehicle, especially in the summer.
