A 20-year-old man is facing a slew of charges after police were called to a fire at an apartment building in Oakville.

Investigators say a planter’s box in the vestibule of a building at 2175 Marine Dr. was set ablaze early Friday morning.

The building has 188 units, the majority of which are occupied by seniors. Police say no one was hurt due to a large concrete overhang.

On Saturday, officers arrested 20-year-old Nash Thompson, of Oakville.

Police executed a search warrant at Thompson’s home and seized a number of items including prohibited weapons.

He has been charged with arson, two counts of possession of prohibited weapons, unauthorized possession of ammunition, mischief, and 14 counts of fail to comply with probation order.
