The Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation are in mourning today at the loss of  11-year old Makayla Sault who died of a stroke yesterday.

Sault is being called a trailblazer, for her public fight to stop chemotherapy and instead pursue traditional medicine.

However her death isn’t changing her parents opinion of her treatment.  In fact, they’re even more certain that it was western-style therapy and not cancer that caused her death.

The Chiefs of Ontario also expressed condolences in a statement today saying:  “She was full of spirit and a young warrior who fought her disease on her own terms to the very end.”

Makayla’s funeral will be held at the Six Nations Community Hall on January 23rd.
