Long Point Provincial Park closed due to flooding

First Published:

A popular camping spot has been forced to close due to flooding, just days ahead of the Victoria Day weekend.

Ontario Parks posted an alert on their website stating Long Point Provincial Park has been closed due to heavy rainfall and flooding.

Parks staff says anyone who made camping reservations for the coming holiday weekend will be contacted and offered the chance to re-book at another Ontario Parks facility, without penalty, where sites are available. Campers will also have the option to cancel and receive a full refund

The provincial park sits on Lake Erie and is a popular site for camping, fishing and boating.

Ontario Parks says the site is anticipated to reopen on May 21, 2019.
