The federal government is taking aim at the controversial long gun registry yet again.

The Conservatives are expected to table a bill to scrap it in the House of Commons Thursday.

Analysts say the bill should pass easily now that the Conservatives have a majority government.

The Harper government has long criticized the registry as a waste of money that gouges law-abiding rifle owners.

Gun control advocates say it provides valuable information to police and lowers rates of domestic violence.
