Local effects of COVID-19 in Hamilton

The City of Hamilton held a news conference this afternoon with updates on the COVID-19 protocol.

A number of restaurants in town are already going to a “take out only” system including The Mandarin and Tim Hortons.

Mayor Fred Eisenberger and city manager Paul Johnson talked about two new COVID-19 assessment centre’s opening in Hamilton.

They are by appointment only and are located at the urgent care clinic on Main Street West, and the St. Joseph’s healthcare King Street campus.

People can only be referred to by public health or their family doctors.

There are 5 new cases of COVID-19 in Hamilton, bringing the total of confirmed cases up to 10.

The infected people are in self-isolation.

It was also announced today in an effort to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus, HSR service will be reduced to a Saturday schedule from Monday to Saturday starting next Monday, March 23rd and Sundays will remain the same.
