A local media company has released a new documentary about black freedom seekers who settled in a small village just outside Cayuga.
The six-part series by Windecker Road Films shines a light on Canfield’s connection to the underground railroad, the freedom seekers who raised their families in the village and an abandoned cemetery where some of them were buried.
‘Canfield Roots’ portrays the front-line efforts to preserve history before it’s lost and the emotional human connections. The director and producer, Graeme Bachiu, hopes this series will educate people about this largely unknown history.
‘Canfield Roots’ will be available on Vimeo on Demand in mid-November.
