Large police presence in downtown Hamilton after weapon report

There was a large police presence in downtown Hamilton following reports of a person with a weapon Tuesday afternoon.

Hamilton police responded to the area of Duke and James streets to investigate the allegation.

Officers say the reports of a person with a weapon have not been substantiated at this time.

People are asked to avoid the area as police continue to investigate.
