Interactive fun and games at Niagara Park

First Published:

Steve Ruddick was back at Brock University for the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games, but instead of focusing on the athletes and the games themselves, he got a look at some of the booths and displays at Niagara Place.

One of the places he visited was the Indigenous booth area. There you will find displays on sports of the past, such as old lacrosse sticks, and different games that people played for fun.

Another booth there is Parasport Ontario. At this booth you can learn more about parasports and try a different sport each day.

Pavillion de la Francophonie is at Niagara Place because out of the 4,500, 600 of them are francophone because the Canada Games are English and French. The volunteers help out at the pavillion, and around the games. In the pavillion you can make your mark on their living tapestry and get some great swag.

The last booth Steve checked out was pin collecting, which might be the unofficial sport of the Canada Summer Games. Pin collecting is a huge social aspect of the games where athletes, sponsors and and brings everyone together. At Collector Pin Sales you can get pins made and trade. Apparently the Nunavut sets are the gold medal of pins.

All of it is free to the public, along with the games, which run until August 21st.
