Impaired driver crashes into hydro pole causing power outage: OPP

A 44-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after allegedly crashing his vehicle into a hydro pole in Norfolk County.

Ontario Provincial Police officers were called to a single-vehicle crash on Lakeshore Rd. around 5:20 p.m. Saturday.

Police say a pickup truck was travelling westbound when the driver lost control, went into the ditch and struck a hydro pole.

The collision left multiple homes in the area without power for several hours.

The driver did not suffer any injuries in the crash.

A man from London, England was arrested and charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
