Hamilton city council has put a controversial plan to end free transit service for the blind on hold.
Council recently decided to end the decades-old practice to help the city meet new provincial accessibility rules.
City staff suggested free service for some, but not all, disabled residents could be considered discriminatory under the new accessibility for Ontarians with disabilities act.
But the decision sparked outrage.
Council will now take the next 90 days to untangle the legislative repercussions of free service.
Burlington has also postponed a similar fare change, in order to get more legal advice.
