This is not the first time Ontario families have had to send their children to school in the midst of a pandemic. A century ago, soldiers returning from WWI brought what came to be known as the Spanish flu. Public gatherings were banned, debate raged over whether people should wear masks, and schools shut down, re-opened, and shut down again. Fifty thousand Canadians died including about 75 children in Hamilton. Lisa Hepfner reports.
