Here are several HSR service changes starting Sept. 1

Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) riders can expect positive changes next month.

The City of Hamilton said it is implementing several service improvements related to year six of its 10-year local transit strategy.

“HSR fall service changes will improve connectivity to Upper Stoney Creek, the airport and the Red Hill Business Park area,” said Sylvia Pena, transit communications officer for the city.

Beginning Sept. 4, the Route 20 A-Line connecting Hamilton International Airport, the downtown and Pier 8 will operate all day on Saturdays and later on weekday evenings.

Route 22 Upper Ottawa will be extended to Glover Rd. seven days a week.

However, Route 22 will no longer service the Anchor and Bigwin area. Riders travelling to a destination on Stone Church Rd. between Nebo and Pritchard roads or along Anchor, Harlowe and Pritchard roads may transfer to Route 43 Stone Church buses and exit at the nearest stop along Stone Church Rd.

In Upper Stoney Creek, Route 42 Stone Church will extend to residential areas along Green Mountain Rd. West.

A price hike of $0.05 will also go into effect on Sept. 1.

The city said the fall schedule will operate until Dec. 31.
