After hiring about 300 people last August, National Steel Car in Hamilton is holding another job fair next Saturday to fill more than 200 additional positions.

National Steel Car has been manufacturing railroad freight cars for more than 100 years. The company’s Hamilton plant is trying to fill a big demand from North American railroad companies for more and newer freight and tanker rail cars.

Employment manager John Durlov told CHCH News the company fair National Steel Car is looking to hire welders and anyone who wants to be trained to become a welder. “We offer a 2 week extensive course with potential for employment thereafter.”

“We have quite a bit of work coming up so we’re hoping to draw a good amount of people. The last one was very successful; we managed to get 300 people jobs and hopefully this time around the same number, to 200 to 250.”

Applicants should report to National Steel Car on Kenilworth Ave N at Burlington St in Hamilton, on Saturday March 28th between 8 am and 3 pm.
