A Hamilton woman has been arrested in connection with two attempted robberies in Burlington.
Police say a woman went to the drive-thru of the Wendy’s located at 2387 Fairview St. around 9:30 a.m. on March 30.
The woman told an employee she had a gun and demanded cash. However, she fled the scene empty-handed.
About 30 minutes later, the same woman approached a worker inside the Spry Convenience on Mountain Grove Ave. and again made demands for cash.
The suspect claimed to have a gun but no weapon was seen.
Police say she left a short time later without receiving any money.
Investigators say a 2022 Dodge Ram that had been reported stolen from Hamilton earlier in the day was used in both incidents.
Shortly after 1 p.m., police arrested 19-year-old Sophia Voortman in Toronto. She has been charged with two counts of robbery and fail to comply with release order and one count each of possession obtained by crime and theft under $5,000.
Voortman is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
