The Hamilton Sports Hall of Fame welcomed the class of 2014 tonight. Bob Krouse, a 4-time Grey Cup champion with his hometown Ticats. Larry Bastedo is a Canadian motorcycle hall of famer. David Hart was a water polo athlete and coach, and a former Olympian. And world champion powerlifter Don MacVicar.

Posthumous honourees included legendary basketball official Kitch MacPherson, and the first Canadian to win an Olympic medal in diving, a bronze in 1956, Irene MacDonald.

Bob Krouse, former Tiger-Cat: “I played nine years as a starting linebacker and 13-years in my apprenticeship. If you look around, how many 9-year linebackers do you have in the CFL. It’s a long time so I earned it from longevity if you want to say.”

David Hart, water polo Olympian: “There’s no way that a five-foot, 10-inch, 150 pound guy should be playing a sport like water polo at that level. So I think ‘you can if you think you can’.”

Don MacVicar, world champion powerlifter: “I honoured my father and my grandfathers. They’re coal miners. And I inherited all their strength. Bill Jamison was the coach that made it all happen.”

Larry Bastedo, motorcycle hall of fame: “I’ve been to all the hall of fame banquets that’s here. I come to them all because I enjoy Hamilton, I enjoy the sport of Hamilton. Oh boy, it was a bit of a tear jerker.”
