Hamilton Police release results of enforcement project targeting vehicle noise

First Published:

Hamilton Police have released the results of Project Drag Strip 8, targeting excessive vehicle noise and stunt driving.

This project focused on the area of Highway 8 from Centennial Pkwy. to Fifty Rd., but was not limited there.

Between Sept. 25 to Oct. 8, officers conducted enforcement and active patrols looking for excessive noise, stunting and illegally modified vehicles.

A total of 233 provincial offence notices were issued.

27 were for improper mufflers, nine for unnecessary noise and there were six summons for more serious offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

Police say they caught one driver travelling 116km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

Hamilton Police say they hear resident concerns about excessive noise and dangerous driving behaviours across the city and will continue to act on complaints.
