Hamilton police release picture of Melvin Avenue robbery suspect

A man with a visual and hearing impairment was assaulted and robbed just after 5:00 p.m. Sunday on Melvin Avenue.

Hamilton Police say the victim was entering the main floor of an apartment building when the suspect pushed him from behind, causing the him to fall through an open door. The suspect proceeded to rob the victim of jewelry. The victim did not receive any physical injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male in his thirties. He has a small build with a goatee and mustache. He was wearing a black hooded sweater and light pants, possibly covering his face with a mask or bandanna.

A witness in the area also said the suspect was in possession of a small knife. He was last seen in the area of Sumach Street and Melvin Avenue.

Police are asking the public to check their cameras and contact police if they have any information that could assist with this investigation.
