Hamilton Police Officer Tests Positive for COVID-19

The Hamilton Police Service is announcing that a sworn frontline police officer tested positive for COVID-19. They received this notification yesterday.

Police are saying that the officer has not had any contact with the community since March 12. It is also believed the officer contracted the disease within the community.

Access to all police facilities has been restricted a to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Essential service to our community is continuing and officers are responding to emergency and non-emergency calls on a priority basis. Police are asking that the public report incidents over the phone whenever possible. For non-emergencies, call 905-546-4925.

The officer is reportedly doing well and is recovering at home with immediate family.
