Hamilton Police investigate second deadly crash this week

Hamilton Police are investigating a fatal crash in the city – the second this week and the eighth this year.

Police say a motorcycle and cargo van collided on Garth St. at Madonna Dr. on the Hamilton Mountain Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say the cargo van was travelling northbound on Garth St.

It started to make a left turn onto Madonna Dr. when it was hit by the motorcycle which was travelling southbound.

Police say the motorcycle was going over the 50/km hr speed limit.

The 30-year-old motorcyclist died of his injuries.

The van driver, a 39-year-old Hamilton man, remained at the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or the moments before is being asked to contact the investigators at (905) 546-4753.

On Wednesday, a 25-year-old woman was killed in a multi-vehicle collision on Queenstone Rd. at Delena Ave. in Hamilton.

Police say alcohol and speed were factors in Wednesday’s crash and say two of the vehicles were street racing.
