Hamilton Police continue to investigate a deadly single-vehicle crash on the Red Hill Valley Parkway on Saturday, the first road fatality of 2021.

Police say a 25-year-old Hamilton woman was driving on the highway when her vehicle went into the grassy median.

The car travelled about 100 metres before it hit a train bridge abutment.

The woman died in hospital.

The crash happened at around 3:30 p.m. and prompted the closure of the highway until about 8 p.m.

Any witnesses who have not already spoken to police are asked to call 905-546-4753.

Police say detectives have not ruled out any contributing factors.
