Hamilton police are searching for a man in his late 20s following an assault on a hiking trail in the city’s west end.

It happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Thursday on Caleb’s Walk trail in the area of Dalewood Cres. and Oak Knoll Dr.

Police say the victim was walking in a heavily wooded area when they were assaulted by an unknown man.

The man was last seen running west along the trail.

He is described by police as having a semi-muscular build, shaved hair on the sides of his head and a black ponytail on top.

“At this time investigators are asking for any residents in the area to review their video surveillance for any footage that may assist with this investigation,” said police in a news release.

Anyone with information that could help police is asked to contact Det. Const. Jason Henry at 905-546-3816 or the Division One Criminal Investigations Branch at 905-961-1876.
