Today Hamilton Police chief Glenn De Caire welcomed Michael “Pinball” Clemons. The former Argonaut proposed a friendly challenge between Toronto and Hamilton to give back to the community.

It is apart of the upcoming “just give” campaign and it will see two police services collect food donations from their cities as part of giving back to their communities. Former Argo player and coach Clemons proposed the challenge to the chief today, saying that he wants decaire to prove that Hamilton has a bigger heart than Toronto.

Clemons called on Hamiltonians to step up and take part. “Bring a perishable food item to any Purolator and what we like to do here is a challenge called ‘cram-a-cruiser.'”

“You call the police station, the chief will tell you how to do it and you cram a cruiser, we will do it with schools businesses anyone who wants to get involved and we are going to see at 2 o’clock on Wednesday, it starts Wednesday morning, which city can collect the most food.”

During Clemons’ announcement he spoke about how much he loves Hamilton, but maybe not their football team. Chief De Caire said he would accept the challenge under one condition. “If you hold that Tiger-Cat hat now we will cram a cruiser and bring in as much food and we will accept that challenge.”

“For families in our communities,” Pinball gladly accepted the hat.

You have until 2 pm to bring food items to the central police station. Hamilton Police will be collecting and delivering donations to Hamilton Food Share.
