Eisenberger says city crews have been out all night to clear roads after an overnight snow storm.
“Given that the snow is still coming down and may be for the rest of the day, I think for most of the folks in subdivisions it will be difficult to get out today, but hopefully when the snow settles down, they’ll be out there with their crews,” said Eisenberger.
He says people should try to stay off the roads and keep the snow routes clear for plow trucks to drive through.
Eisenberger says the mass vaccination clinics around the city will still be open today. He also says the HSR is still operating, but there may be some delays.
A number of vaccine clinics across the city have recently switched from appointment only, to walk-ins for certain groups. Some clinics are allowing walk-ins for people who are 50-and-older, as well as pediatric clinics for 5 and older and women who are pregnant can walk into any clinic.
“Accessibility is there and hopefully if you can manage it today, get to a vaccination clinic, if not, wait until the weather settles down,” said Eisenberger.
Many city staff have been redeployed to assist with vaccination clinics around the city. Eisenberger says staff from recreation centres, museums and non-essential public works amounting to around 250 people.
The deadline for Summer Students is coming up. The Summer Student Program offers jobs to students who are enrolled at a secondary or post-secondary institution or institution of higher learning. The deadline is January 28, 2022.
“For those who are interested in working with the city, get your applications in by Jan. 28 and hopefully you can be considered for a position with the city, whether it’s in parks or culture and rec,” said Eisenberger. “If you want to do some outdoor work this summer, apply.”
